Moving Home

We moved house a few weeks ago. The family decided that the other house was too small for so many people, and that we needed more bathrooms. They are building their own house, which will be finished in 2 years. We moved to a rental property in Los Altos Hills. I wouldn’t say I was happy about the move. I had grown used to the other house and I didn’t want to move from a location which allowed me to walk to the train station and to the shopping centre. I knew I would have to drive everywhere at the new house. But I didn’t really have to do much except pack my own things, and some of the kids’ things. We had movers to do the hard work.

The new location is beautiful. And the new house is beautiful, though not without its problems. It is very open plan, light and I have my own room and bathroom. There is also a swimming pool. My shower didn’t work for two weeks and we got a plumber in to fix it. We also had no wi-fi for two weeks – this was worse than no shower! We live next to the highway, which is convenient. We’re in a spectacular place for walking/hiking/biking. The hills allow for magnificent views – you can even see the ocean. There is also an abundance of wildlife. I’ve seen rabbits, eagles, hawks, hummingbirds, geckos, and deer.

Another exciting thing that has happened, is that I registered for two Stanford continuing studies courses – Creative Expression in Writing and Exploring the Middle Grade and Young Adult Novel. In light of this, I have started to write and am enjoying it very much. I can’t wait to start my classes!

I am planning to go to San Diego on my next weekend off in March. The zoo and Sea World are supposed to be amazing. I hope that they take care of the animals – I have always thought keeping animals in confined areas is cruel, particularly the large sea mammals. But I do love to look at animals and I think I will enjoy myself very much.

Thank you for reading.
